| REVIEW As the title suggests this is a close up behind the scenes and on onstage collection of photographs by former ABT ballerina Rosalie O'Connor. All prints are in black and white, well commented, and contains an index of photo credits in the books back pages. Through the mosaic of her photographs the author reveals much of the ballet dancers world onstage and in rehearsal, her personality and insight in the commentary. The writing is succinct and relevant to the photo content, often short paragraphs. No page to page story is written in this book, the story is revealed through the beautifully photographed visual element. The world of rehearsal makes up the first half of the book and the world of the stage follows. A brilliant success at the intention of presenting a close up perspective of the ballet dancers world through individual impressions. |
