REVIEW
An older book that unfortunately (my copy) does not have a publication date in its title pages. As an indicator the great Ulanova was still dancing with the Bolshoi Ballet Company when this book was written and published. Brief opening chapters on: the Bolshoi company, principal danseurs and ballerinas, and the Bolshoi school, are followed by chapters each devoted to a ballet from the company repertoire. At the start of each chapter on the repertoire are listed: the number of acts and scenes, music composer, book author(s), choreographer(s), and first Moscow performance. This then is followed by a full written description of the ballet including many beautiful monochrome plates (many full and 3/4 page) which are exquisite! Yes, these photographs are a who's who of the great artists of the company, and make the book a small treasure as I have not seen most of these pictures in any other book.
